Neal Farrell

After graduating in marketing and business administration, Neal entered the media world as a print media sales executive on CAR magazine. His business and entrepreneurial savviness quickly took hold in 1999 when he launched RamsayMedia’s digital business. Less than a decade later the digital publishing business unit represented the full spectrum of owned media brands delivering audience sizes larger than the traditional print titles and significant digital revenues. He was also a founding member of the Online Publishers Association that is today the IAB. A decade later in 2009 he started yet another business in the RamsayMedia stable, this time in content marketing, kicking it off with blue chip publishing contracts from Sanlam and Toyota. His entrepreneurial talent didn’t end there as in 2012 he cofounded Narrative, a content marketing specialist agency within the Publicis Machine stable that very quickly attracted Sanlam and Massbuild into the agency start-up. In 2015 Narrative was a finalist for Specialist Agency of the Year at AdFocus and has won multiple industry publishing awards every year. Today, Neal has entered into another phase of his brand communication journey as Managing Director of Publicis Machine in Cape Town.

Gareth McPherson

Gareth champions and oversees the creativity of the Publicis Machine Group. Over his career he has produced several award-winning, through-the-line campaigns for many international blue chip brands at some of South Africa’s most high profile agencies: garnering recognition at prestigious local and international festivals including Cannes, The One Show, D&AD, Clios and Loeries. Career highlights have included successful vehicle launches for brands such as Volkswagen, Hyundai and Land Rover, brand repositioning on Castle Lager and Castle Lite and many campaigns for Nestle, Marmite, Schweppes, BP, Sanlam and Old Mutual. His creative partner, co-Executive Creative Director Jake Bester, and he, took their fledgling agency into the Top 10 creative agency rankings in South Africa in its first year. Since then, the group has won Breakthrough Agency of the Year in 2013 and was voted "Agency to Watch" by industry peers. Gareth is a member of the South African Creative Circle, the International Interactive Advertising Bureau and is also a creative panelist for the Publicis Africa Group. He has both chaired and sat on judging panels at many creative award shows across a variety of disciplines. His rare blend of passion, leadership and strong conceptual ability, together with big brand "through-the-line" experience, makes him not only a powerful driver of creativity across the group, but also a role model for its aspiring young creatives.
